Hey guys, I'm going to build a computer soon, and I was thinking of buying a 6600gt pci-e video card. Do you guys think this video card will last me a couple years considering that i'll be using the computer for work, and casual games/entertainment? I will be pretty comfortable using medium settings. A 16mb ati rage video card has lasted me until this point (from about like 3-5 years ago). I can get the BFG tech 6600gt oc for about 240 CAD. I dont think i'll go for a higher model because i'm somewhat on a budget. Is the BFG card overclockable since it's alrdy overclocked?.

Please remember that here in Canada, computer parts are very expensive. Recommendations (for a better video card/different company) are welcome. Thanks for your help.

If an ati rage lasted up until now, then the 6600gt will last another 10 years. The 6600gt is a solid performer with tons of features.

How much is an X800 / X800XL up there?

If you have an ati rage now though, I think you should be very happy with the increase you'll be getting

If your current card is handling your casual gaming now, the 6600gt should last you a couple years :)

I saw a OEM XFX 6600GT for 199.00 CAD not too long ago. It's expensive for us up here since we have to consider tax as well (up to 15% for Ontario).

nice, sounds like the bfg version is good enough. the x800xl is about 360-400 bucks CAD over here. i hate the fact that we have higher prices, it really sucks. anyways, thanks again guys.
