Geforce 6600GT video card problem?

When I watch anything in WMP10 and even the Divx player my video that I'm watching wiggles or flickers, a lot.

I just got a XFX Geforce 6600GT.

Someone said it might be EMI? What would I do if that is the case? I did take the card out and re-seat it. Still the same thing.

If I change the hardware acceleration from max to half, the flickering goes away. Why would this happen? I tried updating the drivers to the video card and that didn't work.

Please advise.

For some strange reason I searched for flickering here on the forum and found something. I found an option in WMP options to use high quality mode. Does anyone know what high quality mode does?

It makes the quality.. higher. Their are options in WMP, to set the computer on high quality mode.. but even on low quality it plays fine and I have the exact same card as you, I would think its a software problem not a hardware problem.. uninstall WMP and get a newer or older version and see what happens?

thats queer.. i dont know how to fix the problem.. does it happen when you bench mark?

I can't even bench. I tried running 3d Mark 2k5 and like as soon as it starts it some how shuts my box down. I'm going to check since I updated the drivers. Maybe it was the drivers.

Sounds like a video card hardware problem - especially considering it is XFX.

XFX seems to have alot of problem with their 6600GT line. Do a search in the Video forum and you'll see. I would see if I could exchange it for another brand maybe.

The thing is I picked it up from someone on this forum. I traded my 9800XT. Oh well if it's broken it's broken. I'll just have to save my $ and pick up another card. I'm going to stick with ATi.
