is ATI's X600XT pci-e only? i only saw it as an option on dell about 2 months ago and have not seen it since. IMO, this card is a joke and worst than the radeon 9800 pro.

the 6600 GT definately looks better than the 9800 pro as of right now so i guess if NVIDIA can supply it fast enough it should definately help them recapture some of the market.

Isn't the X600XT just a rebadged PCIe version of the 9600 series? Of course it's gonna blow. It(6600GT) looks like a strong card but I'm curious to see how that thing runs high res since it uses a 128 bit memory bus. Still, 8k 3dmarks at 200$ will cirtainly knock the 9800 Pro off it's value throne.... I couldn't read the whole review, a lot of errors translating it for some reason...

Yes, it's basically a way for ATI to charge $200 again for the 9600 Pro, the only difference this time being PCIe.

Well seeing that ATI has got a couple of months to react to the 6600, hopefully they'll be able to tinker with the clockspeeds to make it competitive (yields permitting).

Was the X300 simply based from a 9200? I assume the X300 is going to get a replacement as well then as nV will probably have a new card for this market segment out towards the end of the year.

There will be an X700, release from ATi, based on an R410 core, due approx. mid September.
The 6600 cards are also due in September.
The X700 will be ATi's challenge to the 6600 cards.

I think that's what I read. May have been XBitlabs, but the site ain't working for me at the moment.

Here is a link
And another one
ATi's X700 to go up against Nvidia's 6600, Expected 8000 3dmarks & retail for $199

Still... a nicely OC'd 9800 Pro can do 6500+ 3D marks on any higher end system, so your $200 is only getting you 10-15 frames per second. But for people upgrading from anything below a 9800Pro it will definately be the value card to get.

The era of all new cards being faster than all older cards is over. The future is cards offering similar Performance with newer generations, but more/improved features that will only be usefull with the newer gen card(meaning that with the newer features the newer Gen cards will be faster, but Older features will likely be only as fast as Older gen cards).

The X300 is also the 9600(RV35x) core; it's basicially a PCIe 9550.

Well, this thread, and the other one running in here answered my questions as to which would be faster, a 6600 or a 9800.

So, any definite dates yet on when the AGP version is going to come out?
