I just bought this card for the computer I'm building. It was $199 at Frys. Is this a pretty good card? Isn't this the "best bang for your buck" card I keep hearing about?

Will it run Half-Life 2 and all the latest games?
 
It'll run anything you can throw at it right now including HL2 and Doom 3. You could have done much worse for your money.
 
Yeah, the 6600GT will handle HL2 amazingly. HL2 is a very adaptable game, and will run with great visual settings on a 6600GT.
 
If you wanna throw some extra cash into it, get the Rosewill X800XL at Newegg for $279.00. It will give you basically the same performance as the 6800GT, but for less cash.

I have been looking at one of these for a while but just havent commited ot buying one, but it would be my choice
 
I like my XFX 6600GT a lot, but I think that the X800XL is the best price/performance deal at the present.

The 6600GT ranks a very close second, however. I can play any game out there right now with max settings (except chronicles of riddick SM 2.0++) without sacrificing playability.

Rest assured, you have made a good choice in video cards.
