will this integrated gpu suffice to play hd divx/xvid/x264/h264 (720p) video on a m/b (either skt939 or am2) running a dual core cpu?

rig would be set up w/ a cheap ecs m/b, either 939 or am2 - not sure what a buddy has and 1GB of ram - w/ win7.

i know it is the bottom end but that is all it needs to do - be able to play a hd rip from a network share.

I had an integrated 6150 which worked well in my HTPC.

I paired it with an X2 3800+, and had no problem with HD material.

any old igp can play 1080p.
it won't do it without a dual core though;) even old intel igp's do fine with hidef videos. its just it doesn't offload cpu load at all.

You still use this machine? I have a X2 3800+ that's not being used right now, and a HTPC has been something in the back of my mind for a while. If that processor will still reasonably handle things, then I may move up my plans, considering that the pieces I need to buy for it will have been reduced quite a bit.

Yes, it still acts as HTPC/Media Server. I was using the past tense in my previous post because I recently added on a passively cooled HD4350 for the HDMI output.

The X2 is at stock 2Ghz with 1.75GB of ram. It runs Windows 7 64-Bit without any trouble. I have a Dvico OTA HD tuner and mostly use 7MC.
