BTW- I guess why I persist in posting in this thread could be stated:
1. This thread originated with a flame to me in the topic, continued with other flames directed at me. I suppose I could just watch people slander me, but sometimes I'd rather return the favor.
2. This thread and the other contained flames directed at Anand/AT, which I have a lot of respect for. This is by far my favorite place on the web.
3. For the same reason I defended the 5800U, the nV35 DX9, GF1/2 OG FSAA, and for that matter the MAXX, Rage Fury, and V5.
Every issue has two sides, and I personally think people are overreacting on this issue.

I disagree with some of his opinions/choices, but I realize Duvie started this thread with the best intentions, however it is getting worse by the post.

There have been some good guys who came in claimed what they thought and left it at that....They didn't post about 15% of the post in the thread still saying the same crap...

As far as my 6800NU goes, it's giving my son good service. I sold my 6800GT when I purchased my X800 XT PE, which will likely reside in my box till I get SLI or a next gen card. It's a very nice gaming card, plays HL2 very well, and I'd already finished with Doom3.

The fact that you've spent so much time bitterly attacking those who are angry about this issue speaks volumes. As people like Duvie have stated, ad nausem, that whether there is anymore to say is a matter best left to the individual, not an elite few. As long as the mods don't close this thread it's simply bad taste that compels people like you to try and FORCE it closed by insulting its participants.

While NV is free to say what they want, obviously, their behavior in this has been revolting. If the NV40 was less than optimal they DID have the option of not fielding it until it was optimal. They didn't have to LIE about a pending fix. They could have simply come clean, and offered some sort of restitution. And no, I don't mean a new card. A coupon for some token amount would have shut me up and gave me the sort of good feeling that would have allowed me to consider another purchase of their products in the future. Lots of people don't get over things like this as easily as you seem to, Rollo. Respect us enough to accept that out anger is okay, and moreover, doesn't affect you in any tangible way. And please, don't insult my intelligence by pretending that you don't comprehend the force of numbers. Ther may yet be a suitable solution to this.

It please me that you're enjoying the power-factor of your PE, BTW. I'm very happy with my watered GT as well, and I'm working my way through D3 for the third time, slick as snot. Also, it's good to enjoy an exchange with you sans the usual insults. :thumbsup:

Let's sum up what I know about you so far: You're a cry-baby, you have major personality issues and now you add a tenuous grasp of reality to the list. You are indeed whining; you've done so in this thread, and attempted to export it to FORUM ISSUES, using hyperbole and falsehoods. AGAIN, if you can't stand being flamed, DON'T start flaming. I'd say the same if ATI had promised these features on the R420s and this was the result. Actually, I think ATI did promise some of these features on the R420 and then remove them from the drivers. I haven't seen any outcry about that?

While I respect your right to be upset about this, I don't think issues like this are uncommon on rev 1 hardware or that it will do you any good to post about it here. I doubt BFG customer service reads AT video? I don't think you have the force of numbers, because the vast majority of users don't care about the issue. As far as nVidia goes, my guess is they thought the driver team could get it to work on 100% of the features to some extent, made a decision to beat their competitor to market, and found out some of the functionality would never work. You could be right as well, I doubt we'll ever know. I don't think companies get to the point nVidia has by intentionally defrauding their client's though, would make for bad repeat business.

It would be hard not to enjoy the XT PE, it's as good of a card as you can get now. I've always given the slight edge to 6800U for feature set, but I still say it's hard to go wrong with either card. (unless you're using Linux, of course) Agreed, I would prefer to discuss than flame.


I'd also rather play D3 than any game from last year!
