On the back of the Leadtek 6800 NU I got yesterday it still says it has encode on it. I can't believe manufacturers haven't taken notice of this crap and at least gotten it off of the box by now! Maybe this means I can sue Leadtek.

i just ordered a 6800 (seriously), what magic spell do i have to cast to get my purevideo working.
or will my 3.46ghz p4 EE handle it just fine?
i doubt i'll lose sleep over it if it doesnt.
Also, nVidia has not publicly admitted that it does not work. They have tried to hide the feature even though it was advertised from day 0 at the paper release. NVidia even admitted the feature was present to me on the phone, but could not tell me the degree of offload it had in relation to WMV-HD as I asked that question specifically. So, because there is nothing definitive, chaos. If nVidia would step forward and do a voluntary recall to a like card (not a better card) or offer a coupon, they might side step this. But then, that would be admitting that they did make the mistake in the first place.Originally posted by: Rollo

thats a zinger.
unfortunately, im still correct about this issue. no nvidia press release has announced its going to work. the mods locked two other threads on it.
end of story, theres nothing going on here but us flaming each other. in fact, if we stop.. this thread will die. thats how dead this issue is. so you should thank us for stopping this thread from sinking to page 29 within a day, you're getting alot more attention to the matter than you would.
not that its doing much.
That's not quite true Housecat. As long as nVidia keeps revising their drivers, the people who want to keep this thread alive will keep on pointlessly posting, "WTF?! I tried the new drivers, it still doesn't work!".
How can you blame them with all this "conflicting information" available? You know, there is that one story from a Russian website and the checkbox in Rivatuner!
We need to get to the bottom of this mystery Housecat! nVidia telling us it will never work is just the beginning, haven't you seen the "X Files"?
Yes, there is chaos. Right here. That is what I was referring to. Sorry if that was not clear.Originally posted by: Rollo
Yeah sure GSellis- they'll do a recall and give everyone a new card. Of course:
1. 99% don't care about this at all, but I bet all the people OCing the life out of their cards would love a fresh one on nVidia
2. You're never given a new car when one peripheral feature doesn't work, but you should get a whole new video card because it doesn't accelerate encode or encode/decode of WMV. Sure, I bet nVidia is planning to give us all new 6800UE cards with the new PVP just to make up for our suffering!
3. "So, because there is nothing definitive, chaos. " For most of us, that chart on nVidia's website that say what features are supported on what cores is pretty definitive. There is no "chaos" - most of us realize that after 8 months of trying to get those features working, for them to put that chart on their website is a pretty good indication it doesn't work?
The only people who think there is any question about this are people like you who just want to keep talking about it, pointlessly.

1. Doesn't matter of 99% don't care. If you're one of the 1% who DO care, then it's an issue.
2. I doubt a new video card is going to happen, but some sort of discount coupon for a future Nvidia card would be a nice gesture, don't you think? Oh wait, I forgot. According to Nvidia, there IS no problem.
3. Yes, Nvidia's PR department should be congratulated on the stellar job they're doing to satisfy the customers who actually expected to receive a card that functions as it was advertised to.
And then, of course, there are the people like you who ALSO want to just keep talking about it, pointlessly.

Creig- I can guarantee you I'd rather I never laid eyes on this issue.
The latency is an interesting concept, I wonder if it helps? We have known for many months though that fastwrites on is a must for non P4HT users to get smooth playback.Originally posted by: tenren
I have BFG 6800 GT AGP on A64 3200+ and I found this tool that seem to help.
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951
It is a PCI latency tool and I followed the instructions and set the latency for the card to 64 and turned on the "Fast Writes". I went from ~99% CPU util. to ~70% for HD Step into liquid trailer. So you guys might want to try it out and see if it helps.

Those of you who purchased a 6800 card that you believe to be defective regarding the PVP, here's your cue:
ABIT Class action capacitor suit.
That's what you've got to do.

I thought the same thing when I read that article. nVidia certainly deserves the same consequence, and I'lll be more than happy to jump on the bandwagon when it comes by. Perhaps this will give pause to companies who deceptively advertise features as a finished product when in fact it's not and will never be.

Two sides to every issue Creig.
While you're giving the perspective of 9500NP owners who are concerned about 6800 PVP functionality, I'm giving the perspective of 6800 owners who aren't.
