Duvie i would edit this thread out before the mods ban you. You are getting out of hand. They locked the other 2 that means DONT START A THIRD

They didn't lock it because of bandwidth. They locked it because of the unbelievable amount of trolling and flaming.

Again i would edit this out before you get banned or a vacation.

I'd be beyond surprised if an Elite Member was given a vacation, whether he deserved it or not...

Locking the thread is a little irritating to me since I regularily keep up with the non-flaimbait content in it. Would it be possible to create a sticky for this subject that only designated people can contribute to? That way if something significant occurs that people lile me would like to know about, someone can shoot off a PM to the "thread host" and they can update it if they see fit. Ending this topic entirely is way off the mark considering how many people are affected by this so please consider my recommendation.

Thanks,

John

Why would they ban a topic that needs to be discussed???

The trolling was by ROLLO...give him a vacation!!!!

The topic needs to be discussed and AT's lame review didn't answer or fix anything for most of us....

Go ahead give me a vacation...It will be permanent cause I would never come back to a site that censors the members who have dissent against them....

I want to talk about drivers and fixes....player ppl are using that work with all the codec etc....

maybe talk about what we need to do to Nvidia, etc....

What is wrong with that????

I did what I could for the last thread.

I got what info I could from nVidia, unfortunately it lacked the fine chart that itemized which features from the specs they gave to me applied to which cards.

Any "flaming" I did in that thread was outposted 10/1 by a few individuals whose existence didn't seem to extend much outside the thread, and was usually in response to flames directed at me.

As for your sad attempt to be a mod and/or control where I post, good luck with both.

Back onto the topic....

What are the current if any fixes or help to get DVD playback, divx playback to work or to not use as much cpu utilization?

How about WMV HD files?? I am at 90-100% cpu usage and doing anything other then the player to watch that will cause stuttering....

I personallly can play DVDs and DIVX files fine but it seems the cpu usage was more then it use to be prior to this card. What is the need to use the NVDVD??? I just use winDVD which I own and evrything seems to play nicely and look very nice on my monitor....Am I missing something???

I hate when mods are heavy handed and close threads rather that are important to members rather than weeding out the troublemakers. Its usually due to them looking for an excuse to censor content, but blame it on trolls.

Unless they lock the whole FORUM this topic will not die, even if it could afford to be a little better organized.

I also use WinDVD and when I enable hardware video acceleration in the settings (in WinDVD) CPU usage watching a DVD is between 7 and 20% all the time, usually around 13%. I think it works quite well there, but I'm not sure if that's a good CPU usage.

Well, the mods didn't erase the thread. You can still link to it. All of the posts are still there.
All you lost was the ability to post in it.

If I read you correctly, you urge a vacation on Rollo for doing what you consider trolling (a sentiment which I disagree with after having read pretty much the entirety of that thread) and then in the same post claim that you "would never come back to a site that censors the members who have dissent against them." I believe you need to reexamine your reasons for the creation of this thread and your statements in it when you make such an obviously short-sighted series of statements as this.

With that being said, I do agree that the video processor issue is important. I have a 6800GT and would like to get what I paid for. No, it's not the end of the world. NVs stance seems to have been laid out - e.g. that those with the 6800GTs and Ultras will simply not get most of the tauted benefits of the PVP (WMV 9 acceleration, video encoding support, etc.). Frankly, any amount of online bickering is not going to accomplish anything. What needs to be done is either a class action lawsuit (of which I have neither the time nor the resources to undertake) or to get professional, print publications and some of the major web publications on NVs case. Maximum PC briefly addressed the issue, but was fed some PR BS by NV. So, 'cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war' if you want, but unless you let those dogs slip through the appropriate channels, I'm afraid that there will be little accomplished with regard to this issue.

I belive some of what you mentioned has already been started......

This is not to get ppl on a class action lawsuit bandwagon. This is to discuss what is wrong, are there fixes coming, are there fixes now, etc....

You know I find it interesting how nvidia has confessed to the fact that its VPU (aka those 20 million dedicated transistors they touted the heck out of a year ago) is broken on the NV40's and still they charge $20 for their codec as double F U. That's nerve right there.

i didnt read the other two threads on this topic.. but i dont understand the interest..

i guess to me its simple.. you guys obviously know that theres certain Geforce6 models that dont have the acceleration.. so dont buy those. If you have one, dont sweat it.

Seriously guys is your Athlon 64 3200+ not up to the job? Are you at 100% cpu utilization all the time and its rendered your hardcore extreme machine unusable?

Meh, I"d buy a 6800GT anyways.. I never cared about video for years.. or I'd bought ATI, and would have for years!

DUH.

My suggestion: dont complain, move on.. or buy an ATI and still move on.

I'm sure theres lots of "but WAT ABOUT MY PROMISED FEATURES WAAAHH" i guess its like sthu, protest and buy a ATI card. I really fail to see the point.

If any of you have any money, and I doubt you have any big money (millions) if your complaining about something so stupid.. then sue Nvidia. :) Maybe you can get some lawyer to do it on contigency. Good luck on that one. As far as I'm concerned this is my first and last post on the matter, but I think every thread on this topic shoudl be locked because its trollbait.

Moral of the story, if you bought an Nvidia for video you just got owned like most first adopters. Everyone who has been in this business for years knows this was Nvidia's first attempt at something like this, and I had a feeling it would be subpar or wouldnt work.. thats what you get for being first adopters.. too damn bad. Next time, wait.

Hasn't it already been discussed in depth that the HARDWARE IS BROKEN and CANNOT BE FIXED BY ANY SOFTWARE? Sorry for the caps, but it seems obvious to me that there is no way it's going to be fixable now. The next time they find a way to mount a new chip on your board by means of software, you can resurrect this thread...but for now, don't even bother. I'm not trying to flame, it just angers me that it's being brought up so much. I appreciate your efforts at trying to make the information about PureVideo easier to find, but am just advising you it probably won't help much, that's all. If you are really annoyed by the fact that you were a victim of false information, you'd be better off spending your time trying to sue nVidia for fraud instead of creating a thread upon which there will be much whining and no remedy. You might even be rich after you're through with them...
