Fundamentally new architecture
"It is the most important contribution we've made to the graphics industry since the founding of this company," Huang said, speaking at the Merrill Lynch Hardware Heaven Technology Conference.

So maybe thats the time they are going to incorporate some 3DFX technology (besides the PCB size)?

MAN, this thing is going to be FAST! I haven't seen the specs yet, but since it will be faster than the TI4600, then it will be DAMN fast!! The TI4600 is a freakin' monster! I'd hate to see the power of nVidia's next card...well I'd actually LOVE to see it. :) I have a GeForce 2 Pro and my friend's GeForce 3 TI200 bitch slaps my card. I'd LOVE to see how big of an impovement the nVidia's next card will be over my little GF2 Pro. I can't wait!

JackBurton-

We dont know for sure if it'll be faster, the GF3 wasnt to much faster than the GF2 Ultra and everyone praised the GF3.

Well, I have to disagree. I have a GF2 Pro running at almost GF2 Ultra speeds and my friends GF3 TI200 bitch slaps my card. And he has a slower PC (P4 1.8A GHz vs P4 1.9@2.128GHz). :(

With original drivers, yes.

I'm fairly sure the next generation nVidia card will be much improved over the GeForce4 Ti series. Why? Well, think about it--along with the 6 month product cycle. It's pretty much every 1 year that you see a significantly redesign and much faster card.

Whoopie, now I can run all those games that don't already run silky smooth at 1280x1024 on my GF3/P4 2.133GHz computer!

No way I'm shelling out any more money for anything until I see something that it will actaully enhance.

We cannot call GF4 a significant redesign of GF3. It is much faster, yes.

Huang hinted few times that next GPU after GF4 will be a completely new core, and won't be called GeForce x..

SheiTT! I'm betting it'll be like the geforce1 launch. Product announced and demoed in August and it ships late september~October.

Thanks :)

Try to play Morrowind :D The water looks so good, you don't know if its your pants or the monitor. Morrowing is just the start of the next-gen wave rolling in :) ~It's like 1997 all over again :):):)

Leon, you're thinking incorrectly. Start from the beginning of all nVidia cards and work your way up from there... 6 months after you have a new card, then 6 more month--much better card....

so GeForce3 have a healthy boost in performance and technology right? GeForce4 offers benefits only if you're using AA right? Now, the upcoming nv30-based cards should, if nVidia continues to follow the 6month cycle with 1 year between "significantly better" cards, be the one to open up more eyes.

I'd expect full DirectX 9.0 compatibility and possible 3dfx/Gigapixel technologies in this product.

On a related note, I wonder when the R300 is due out? Also, where the heck is the R250? ATi had better get a move on.

have you seen the g4 Unreal 2 benchmarks? i know unreal 2 hasnt been fully optimized for the chip yet but dammnnn the g4 got punished in the benchmarks. g5 will be useful to have in 6 months time.

I think its great nvidia is moving at break-neck speeds. But the game developers cant keep up.
Lets get a list going of games that might punish a geforce 4:

Star Wars Galaxies
Unreal 2
Doom 3
Soldier of Fortune 2

None of which are released, so whats the point of getting one until they are..
