Hey guys,

need a lil help here -- just bought a GF4 128MB (from another member) (pre-mod to 305/450??)
I uninstalled my video drivers
Powered down
Swap cards
Power on
Reinstall the latest Nvidia's drivers

Restarted

After about 10 mins, it started making these little fuzzes on my monitor, weird artifacts -- kinda like it's breaking down, and I'm just surfing the web...
So I figured, must be a bad driver -- so I reinstalled the drivers, reinstalled DirectX, after awhile I reimaged my PC

Same stuff...now it's happening when it first boots :(

So I left the machine to go watch TV, I come back up -- decided to reboot to try running it on Safe mode instead -- now it won't even go to POST.. :(
I put in my GF3 Ti 500 and it works fine, could there be some settings in the BIOS or could my motherboard be incompatible? :(

Help, thanks :)

Shuttle AV41P motheboard
1GB of PC3200 RAM
450W Powersupply (1 month old)
Windows XP w/SP1
Debian Linux 2.x kernel

EDIT: Oh I tried using RivaTuner to tune it down to 290Mhz -- doesn't help, so I left it alone.

The fan still spins, and there's lights on it.

How did I burn it? I only used it for approx 2 hours? Dang it.

Hmm. I can see three possible problems.

1) The card is defective or damaged. Have you tried the CARD in another system?
2) Your AGP bus is farked. Since the GeForce 3 works, this problem appears eliminated.
3) Your PSU has been hit by a surge or otherwise damaged. This is in limbo - your GeForce 3 works, but it has less draw than the GeForce 4 - your PSU may be able to supply the 3 but not the 4.

I would lend weight to number 1 - it seems the most likely, but a little more investigation of number 3 is still neccesary. See if you can get a friend to bring a Gf4 or higher GPU buy to pop in there and see if it works. If it does, it looks like the card's dead. sorry :(

I was the one who sold this to him. I tested the card priot to selling and even ran it with 3Dmark loop for a couple hours. The premod isn't the problem! 300/450 is a very modest setting since the core was able to handle 325, and with the vantec cooler already mounted when I sold it it should work fine.

I really don't know the problem or why this is happening, as I said before, it was working perfectly fine. Now it's not posting?

Hmm sounds like me the card it dieing, its not an agp issue if the other video card worked, and should not be lack of power to the new card that killed it. Is still under warrenty? Is it RMA'able? This is something you will have to sort out with Dexion lets hope we can get a peaceful resolve. Ive traded with Johnny a couple of times and have nothing but great but great things to say about him. So i dont think he pruposly broke it. But good luck and i hope we can slove this.
