GeForce 4 TI4200 card, this one any good? Find one better?

I see it`s a 64mb version,I would advise going with a 128mb version if you intend to keep the card awhile, games that will use larger textures then 64mb will benefit.

I recommend the 8500 because the 2d is better, and I have had nothing but problems with Nvidia cards. Also the statement that the 4200 is faster has been the subject of much debate, so I wouldn't try to start a flame war here. If you want to know, go check the reviews. I like the 8500 better based on years of experience.

I`ve never had any driver issues with Nvidia ,if he wants to get a GF4 Ti4200 then it`s his money his choice plus the topic is GF4 Ti4200 not ATi 😉.Also the image quality on GF4 cards has improved a lot over the older Geforce cards.

Granted, Mem , JK2 benchmarks show better performance with 128MB , however it's negligible in UT2k3

Wake that`s fine,NoSkillz
if you`re happy with 64mb version then go for it.

🙂

Ok, think I'm gonna go 4200 instead of ATi. I have the Radeon 7500 and I think Nvidia seems to make better products anyway. So is the deal I posted above any good? or is it a crappy card?

Anandtech`s review(NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 Roundup - June 2002) says
Image Quality Rating Very Good @ 1600x1200
Average @ 1920x1440 ,This is the first time we've featured Inno3D in a video card roundup, and we were relatively impressed by their offering; they sent us a 64MB card.

The Inno3D card had a large heatsink attached via clips and thermal grease. Like the rest of the cards in the roundup there was no cooling on the memory itself.

The Inno3D bundle was respectable, with a DVI-to-VGA adapter and S-Video/RCA cables. A Conexant CX25871-15 video encoder chip handles TV output on the card.

I'm waiting for 9500, it will be the best deal out there. I want AIW 9500 but I don't think it exists.

My friend has a 1800+ w/ radeon 8500 and he gets around 6-7k on 3dmark.

I have an 1800+ w/ GF4 Ti 4200 and I get 8.5k.

i've used matrox, ATI, and I took the 2D risk and bought a 4200 a little while ago. 2D is great, as good as ATI and Matrox, even on my super crisp and bright iiyama monitor with a DiamondTron FD tube. 3D performance is great too, and the price was right. Plus, it's dual head, although my particular 4200, an Abit, won't work right with the new detonators.
