Hi,

If I have the choice between buying a GeForce 4 Ti 4600 or ATI Radeon 9500/9600 Pro, which one should I choose?!

Most say that the ATI Radeon cards give better quality image, but in many benchmarks I see that the GeForce 4 Ti 4600 clearly outperforms the ATI Radeon 9500/9600 Pro cards, so which one do I choose then?!

By the way, the complaining about image quality, is that only with the GeForce FX cards or also with the GeForce 4 Ti 4600?! How does the image quality of the GeForce 4 Ti 4600 compare to the ATI Radeon 9500/9600 Pro cards?!

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Mike.

A 9500 Pro is ~190 @ Newegg, while a a Radeon 9700 NP is only $10 more. The 9700 would outperform all of those cards. However, if your choice is only those three...than the 9500/9600 Pro are the best choice IMO.

Yes. I would VERY strongly reccomend buying the 9700 Non Pro over the 9500 Pro.

Also, it is by far better than the Ti4600 because if you try playing with AA and AF turned on, the 9700 Non Pro can beat the Ti line by A LOT!

IMO, playing with AA and AF helps a lot!

I would also go with the 9700NP,infact I`ve just ordered my first ATi card today, a Sapphire 9700 NP.I`ll soon find out how good ATi drivers really are compared to Nvidia ;).

Another vote for the 9700 Non pro. A friend of mine just ordered off mwave for $199. Definately the best card for the price range. For $100 area, I'd go with the TI 4200 (great performance on its own, and if u want overclocks to 4600 speeds).

Thanks for all the replies! At my local store they also sell "GeForce 4 Ti 4800" and "GeForce 4 Ti 4800 SE" cards. Is it a good idea to buy any of these cards? How well do these cards compare to the others being mentioned and what's the difference between the 4800 and 4800 SE?

i though 4800= 4600 w/8x agp, 4800 SE = 4400 w/8x agp
i'd go with 9700NP as the top choice, adn then if you can't, try for the 9600pro if you're going to overclock, if not, then a 9500pro

im pretty sure they beat the Ti line at higher res. adn AA/AF

What about noise? Is it true that the Radeon 9700 is much more quiet then the 9500? Does it use a different fan or something?

Or are the Radeon 9500 and 9600 cards also silent. How does the noise of all those Radeon cards compare to the GeForce 4 cards?!

Thanks!
