geforce 4 mx 440 problem

i just got it and it is not working... whenever i boot up i get no display and i hear a long beep followed by a few short ones...

motherboard is a chaintech 7sid (sis735 chipset)
cpu is athlon 1.4 (266)
512mb ram

anyone have a clue what i should do to get it to work? i've installed the latest sis agp drivers still no luck
