Geforce 4 mx 420 Open-box $79.60 Lakewood, CA

I was in Best Buy and noticed they have 3 open boxes for $79.60. The open boxes are behind the shrink wrapped ones. They seem to have an inordinate amount of open boxes. This is the Best Buy on Clark street next to the Lakewood Mall. Link to their product details

I'll take a stab at it.

A bunch of uneducated little gamers thought they were getting a great deal on the newest card out that kicks every other cards butt, only to take it home and find out that they had been had. So they make generous use of Best Buy's 30 day, no questions asked return policy and got their money back.

I guess several people were disappointed with their shiny new "beefed-up-GF2" cards. Sounds like anyone shopping for one of these should go check the nearest BB. I can't imagine this being just a localized phenomena.

The sad thing is that even for $80 it's not worth it. I mean, come on, using SDR RAM on a "GF4" card? WTF?!?!? :|

I agree....this is a marketing nightmare. I'd much rather buy the GF3 but these are retail for $120 so that is why I put it here... BTW there are also some ati Radeon 8500s but I can't recall what they are going for.

If it was mx440's it would be a good deal for people on a budget, but the SDR RAM on the mx420's just kill it.
