Geforce 4 lockups

I have been experiencing lockups since fitting my new Gf4 MX 440 2 days ago.

The lockups happen during games and other 3d programs such as Quake 3 and 3d Mark 2001SE.

Quake will run for 5-30 minutes before locking up and requiring a restart. I have reinstalled XP twice trying to get round this and have tried all things applying to me from Via.

I have read today that some mobo manufacturers are admitting the mobo isn't giving the Geforce 4 enough voltage. Is this true?

Thanks

My PC:

P3 1GHz
512 mb Ram
Via Apollo Pro KT133
Leadtek A170 DDR T

First of all how much can your power supply handle?

I have a Gf4 ti4600 and was experiencing the good ol "blue screen of death" nearly everytime I opened an app. I disabled nVIEW on startup and this fixed all problems for me. (am running win98SE) Anyone have a problem similar?

It's 300w. That should be enough I think. I got a suggestion to run the 23.11 detonators but they don't seem to recognise the gf4. Am I doing something wrong there?

300w is enough.

I doubt you'll be able to get the 23.11 drivers working since they don't have GF4 support.

Is your front side bus overclocked?

Try the leaked beta Nvidia 27.42 or 27.70 drivers ,also go into bios and disable all video shadowing ,disable system bios cacheable as well, remember to remove old nvidia drivers first before install.

Here is a program I reccomend to make sure you have all your drivers removed. If you use detonators you want to make sure the old ones are out of your system this can cause driver issues and lock ups. Use this program then do a fresh install, hope this helps.

There is 2 problems I have with detonator destroyer. One is that it doesn't mention working with XP - so therefore I don't trust it. Two is that I've done 2 complete installs of XP and that hasn't cleared it.

Back to the drawing board then............

I even rung Leadtek up to have a shout at them, but the ******** had gone home. Never mind - on Monday morning if I don't get answers they'll be wishing they hadn't gone to work :)

Did uninstall your previous driver correctly from add/remove programs?
Do you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard?

I would have to agree with the mobo not giving enough voltage to that puppy, see if you can get an updated bios.
