Geforce 4 - better filter components?

I remember reading back before the GF4 came out, they said it would have better quality resisters(?) for better filtering since all of the Nvidia lines up to then had slightly blurry pictures because of low quality components. Did the GF4 turn out to fix this? I remember many people on here modding their GF3 TI's by cutting certain resisters to make the picture better. There was a website on how to do it also.

not all nVidia boards had the problem, and the geforce4 series mostly fixed the problem.

Actually, it was the video output filter capacitors that people were removing. The filter caps were simply NOT quality components. A quality built board will not have these problems. I have two GF2 Pro's, and they both suffer from this, somewhat, although the Gainward card has better 2D than the MSI card.

I only recently noticed the difference when I installed an old ATI Rage Fury Pro card in my system (for the heck of it. :D ). The old ATI card had better 2D than either GF2 Pro.

(Moved from a hot deal thread.. this is the appropriate forum for this question..)

While testing my new geforce4-Ti 4200 against my current ATI Radeon-7200, I noticed that the quality of text rendering is somewhat inferior in GF4. Font smoothing in Windows, does not work well with Ti-4200. Smoothness in Ti-4200 is only half as much as that of Radeon. (Large sizes of text looks amazingly smooth in Radeon). Is there something I can do to rectify it? I am wondering if there is any software/registry setting worth tinkering with...

Problem solved! Returned Ti-4200 to CrapUSA and ordered a 8500LE 64MB from Newegg!!.

My subjective testing of the 2D quality of the GF4 Ti 4200 is that it is highly improved over previous incarnations of the GF line of chips. I have used GF, GF DDR, GF2 GTS/Pro/Ti, GF2 MX, GF3 (for a short time), and my GF4 Ti 4200. IQ/2DQ has improved dramatically from GF -> GF4.

At 1280x1024x32x85Hz on my Samsung 955DF I have no complaints about the IQ/2DQ I get.
