I was looking on price watch and I saw some Geforce 3s for 240... the Tis are like 200.. but I thought that maybe I could swing 240 if it would make a difference. So whats better.. a ti 200 or a standard 3.

Heres my setup.

The gainward gf3 is only $239 with $6s/h . I'd take that over the Ti.

I believe standard is better. From what I understand, the Ti200 runs on a slower frequency than the standard GF3, whereas the Ti500 runs faster.

Many people claim that the gainward has the best 2d. There's not any way to really test that, though it's likely true, I just hate to see rumors be paraded as truth. From all appearances, it seems that the gaineward G3 Ti 200 doesn't come with ramsinks, so I personally would go with another brand due to convenience. Of course, that could be a benefit if you wanna mod it yourself. At stock speeds, the Geforce 3 is about 10-15% faster than the Ti 200. The cores of the Ti 200's might have a better chance at overclocking because they are newer and on a different fab, but then again, results might be worse since the Ti 500's are speed binned. Most (if not all)of the reports of one Ti 200 or another having much faster than average memory have proved to be false. The PNY with a lifetime warranty that goes for about 187 (shipped) seems like the best deal, IMO.

Im thinking that the Gainward Geforce 3 will be what I get. I dont overclock and dont have any plans to do it. It has ramsinks as opposed to their Ti 200 model, and if the 2d is good Im set.. unless ATI get their drivers in order.

ATI won't release any drivers until mid November, that's a long wait. I think I'm going to go with the PNY Ti 200 and save the $60 between the gainward Geforce 3 and it for a Geforce 4 down the line. :) That's not to say that the Gainward isn't a great deal either, I think both of them are fair prices--it's just the Ti 500's that can't justify their existences to me, other than by making the other cards more affordable.

Well, Gainward's website looks like my little brother set it up. :p Yeah, I don't trust PNY all that much either, my ram from them can't pass the Norton diagnostic, but hey, my system is running fine.

Yeah their website looks cheap.. but hey maybe thats how they keep the costs down. Their cards are solid and so is their reputation. Ill be using the detonators so I dont have to look at their site.. oh and gainwards logo looks like someone was on crack while designing it.

Anand seems to think highly about the Gainward offering - I'd have to agree from what I've seen. The standard GF3 @ $239 is a great deal too.

PS. Don't judge a company by it's website - heck, take a look at Abit's ;)
