Hello everyone,

I am having problems getting the Gainward Geforce 3 (Golden Sample) to work with my tiger mp. I got everything running great on my system (in VGA 16 color mode)
Then I went to install the Gainward card. The computer posts (no beeps) and then gets to windows. When it gets to windows 2kpro and it freezes up and all I get is black screen with a small box of scrambles in the lower right corner. I then reboot again and go into safe mode to try a different drivers. I tried the 14.70,23.11,21.81,21.83 and both drivers on the CD that came with the card. I also made sure to have the Tyan Drivers installed that came with the card. (AMD 762 AGP register patch, AMD power management and the AMD 762 AGP Driver.)

I know it?s not a bad AGP port. I have tried a different card and it works fine.

What drivers should I use for the Tiger MP using the Gainward ( Golden Sample) I?m having a lot of trouble getting this to work. What order of operation should I go about for installing this card?

I tried this:
Install win2k with SP2 and other windows patches> install drivers on the gainward CD>all I get is black screen when I try to get to into windows 2k> go into safe mode uninstall drivers for gainward try new drivers. Same thing for every driver!

I tried this too:
Install win2k> > install drivers on the gainward CD>Same thing, black screen>safemode uninstall drivers> try other drivers . Same thing with all of the drivers.

I have been trying to get this to work for the past 48 hours if anyone has got the gainward geforce 3 to work in win2k on a Tiger MP. Please let me know how you accomplished this.

I really appreciated any help!!!!!!!!

Yanked from the Tyan site :

This particular error occurs in combination with:

1) Nvidia's latest Detonator XP v.23.11 drivers
2) Geforce 3 family of video cards
3) AMD's AGP drivers

If all 3 of these listed items are used in conjunction with any AMD 760 chipset motherboard you will receive this error. Most video card manufacturers modify the drivers for their cards. Therefore, if you use the video card manufacturer's drivers or Nvidia Detonator v.22.xx drivers (or earlier versions) you will not encounter this error message.

I suggest you try earlier version NVidia drivers

What kind of sound card do you have?I had the same problem with a SB Live 5.1,never figured it out so I just got a Radeon 8500.I know it doesn't solve your problem but maybe it will point you in the right direction.

I got the Santa cruse. But I don?t have it installed yet. I wanted to get the gefrorce running first. I might just have to use my old ATI 7500 if I don?t get this thing running soon. .......

did you fully uninstall the NVidia drivers before installing new ones ? you might have to pick through the registry to make sure all aspects of the drivers are gone before installing new ones.
