A friend of mine who recently spent a fortune on his system is having a few problems with every direct 3d game he runs.

They all crash out after a few seconds or minutes with the computer restarting, on reboot windows informs him that the nvidia driver caused the problem.

I have tried driver updates across the board with no luck.

He runs an athlon xp2000 on an asus kt266a board.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the famous Nvidia loop error.

This article should be of some help for you.

Good luck! :)

P.S. I had the same problem, but it turned out to be RAM-related. If you have more than one stick in there, try it with one and see what happens. You also might try switching DIMM banks, whether you have one or more sticks in there.

The first thing to do is to make sure he's not overclocking anything in his system and to install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for his motherboard.

Thanks for the info.

I will get to work on the problem armed with this info. The manufacturer of his PC, Evesham (UK based) has now set up a lab to investigate this problem.
