Hi. Well i got Visiontek Geforce3 Ti-500 64MB DDR and I want to overclock my card a bit. I just want to get a bit more edge out of it for now. I'm really waiting for the NV30. But my real question is what program is the best for overclocking the card and whats the highest i can bring the card to where it won't fry? I got a fan on side of case blowing right on video card if you were wondering...

Riva Tuner is an excellent program to use for overclocking. No one can tell you exactly how high you card will go. Move the memory and core frequencies up slowly until problems occur, then bring them down slightly and test for stability.

Check out Riva Tuner, thats what I use.

And how far can it go before it frys? Thats just luck, so just keep OCing higher until its instable, then lower it down a little, but if you're afraid if you push it too far, you'll get little "warnings" (artifacts, instablities, etc).

Another vote for Riva Tuner. It's the best and most comprehensive tweaker available for nVidia cards and it does a lot more than just overclocking.

;) There are plenty of tweaking apps out there, obviously Coolbits is the simplest! Anyway don't be expecting much of an improvement from a GF3TI500 as they're already VERY near the limit of the technology ... still one heck of a card though and certainly no need to be considering a GF4TI or Rad9700, possibly even the high priced NV30 when that eventually sees the light of say. I'd stick with your TI500 for at least another 6 months and see what the prices do.

I've gotten my VisionTek GF3 Ti 500 up to 268/565 stable using 3dMark2001. Better cooling would help to get a higher overclock, but it isn't worth the time and money.
