I've been reading the reviews about these two cards, but I would really want to see a direct comparison.
I'm saying this because Elsa has the memory of the Galdiac 920 running at 3.8ns, while Visiontek has it at 4.0ns.
Is the performance obtained noticeable?.
The prices of these two aren't that different (10 bucks) I would like to know which one is recommended.

Thanks.

The Elsa card is the Visiontek card....Visiontek is manufacturing the GF3 for Elsa. Some of the first GF3's had 4ns memory, but I believe they all have 3.8ns memory now.

The only difference between the two is that Elsa includes a copy of Giants.

where can I read about this manufacturing thing?.

BTW, Giants is another thing that would make me buy the Elsa, since I played that game at a store and it's really cool.

Thanks.

Is that ********** confirmed ********** and do you have a URL verifying that information?

Onager - Here's a review by GamePC. And I beleive the going price for the Elsa will be around $500. With the Visiontek avaiable for $350 - 370 street, that seems expensive for the GF3 enhanced Giant's game, IMHO.

John - Apparently the early batches of Visiontek boards sport the 3.8ns DDRAM. Refer to the above review.

Thanks!, that's a nice Visiontek review.

And it is better that nthe Leadtek. Now I would need a good review of the Elsa.

Apex Leadtek GF3 review:

<< Also, while the Leadtek box states that the WinFast GeForce3 uses -4ns DDR, we found that it, in fact, does make use of the speedier -3.8ns variety. After a little research and inquiry into the proper channels, we have found that all of the GeForce3's that we know of will be shipping with -3.8ns DDR >>

As for Visiontek producing Elsa cards, I believe they have been doing it for a while, unless something has changed...do a search fo Visiontek and Elsa on the GH and Video forums, there's a lot of people who have discussed this.

That's cool.
But, basically there's no way of knowing if you're buying a 3.8ns card.

And @ Visiontek.com, they mention memory clocked at 4.0ns.

Thanks.

The Elsa is actually the cheapest GF3 available in the UK at the moment (well, almost available :p ).

£297 from most places, but also got link to a source at £265 expecting stock Fri 18th.

What difference does it make? All Geforce3s are clocked the same, 200MHz core/230MHz DDR memory, so the only advantage with having slightly faster RAM is that you might get a little more headroom if you plan to overclock. It's kind of like people who buy 7ns RAM (PC143) for their systems. Eventhough it's 7ns RAM, if they set their memory bus to run at 133MHz then the RAM is going to run at 133MHz regardless of the fact that it could go higher. Geforce3 card manufacturers set the memory clock to 230MHz DDR, so it's going to run at 230MHz DDR regardless of how fast the RAM is actually capable of going. The faster RAM will only become a factor if you overclock the card.
