I helped my friend install a Visiontek Geforce 3 on his eMachine emonster 500a. Since it has AGP 2X, I generally thought that the card would run fine. Just to be on the safe side, I did a clean install of Windows XP on his machine.
However...
When I first booted up, the usual Windows XP loader came up, then the screen went completely black. There was nothing... So then I went to safe mode and installed the drivers, etc and returned back to normal boot up. Still nothing, just a black screen.
Does anybody encounter the same problem? I need to fix his computer back, and fast!

Here is his specs just incase you need to know

Pentium III 500 Mhz
Trigem Napoli II ZX motherboard
256mb PC 133 generic sdram
Western Digital Caviar 20 gigs 7200 RPM
Sound Blaster Live 5.1

Could this have anything related with the motherboard not giving up enough voltage to the card?

My friend seems to have the same problem with his 800mhz emachine cele system..
He was trying to install a PCI TV card or something.. but it wouldn't let him... and the drives stop working..

I looked at the case power supply.
I noticed that it uses only 175 W..

That is very low... even for geforce2 or 3..
You need a better power supply...

Hey, same problem! When I inserted the Geforce 3, all the cd drives-floppy just couldn't boot up. Not only that, but the text in the bios were messed up and there were "artifacts" everywhere? So is this really just a problem with his power supply?

I also noticed that replacing the emachine power supply could be a bit difficult since I heard that it is generally smaller than most other computers.
