Gainward Geforce 2 Ti450 w/ VIVO... had the card for a while now, obviously, but never tried hooking it up to a TV until now. Well, it's trying to work, but all I'm getting on the TV is, more or less, static. I can't find a whole lot of information on this, but it doesn't *appear* to be anything driver/software related. Is the TV encoder (decoder?) chip on my video card a dud, or is there something else I should be trying before replacing the card?

Have you instaled the latest Nvidia WDM drivers. version 2.13 latest
Also is your capture program set up correctly for the cables you are using as in composite or Svideo etc.
What i want to know is can you just install a new wdm driver over the old one or do you need to remove the other one first.

Maybe I didn't make this clear.... the video OUT feature is what I'm going for here... I would like to play DVDs, divx, etc on my TV from my computer. :)

GeForce2's and GeForce3's were very picky with their tv-out. Often WHQL drivers from Nvidia wouldn't "see" the tv-out and you'd need to use the manufacturer's drivers (a less than ideal solution for sure) or a third party utility.

I think there's a utility called "TV tool" that does tv-out. There's probably some other ones too...

Maybe this isn't relavant, but on the systems I have used tv-out I could connect the TV as the only display, and would see the computer POST and all that on boot... shouldn't that work regardless of the drivers? I'm definately going to try some different drivers and all that when I get home from work, but if I can't see the POST then would it be a safe assumption that the VIVO chip isn't functioning properly?

Um, maybe. It *should* see the TV if it's your only display when booting, but it might not - it may need drivers to identify the VIVO chip. That's why you might need to get the new Nvidia WDM drivers and if that doesn't work try a third party utility.

Okay, I have the latest WDM drivers (as well as the latest detonators) installed (I also tried the latest from Gainward with no luck). The NVidia display properties show the line 'TV Encoder Type: Conexant Bt868', but that's about it... no other signs of being able to use Clone mode on NView, etc. So I went ahead and installed TVTool (version 9), which complained that it was unable to detect a TV chip. I checked the FAQs and tried their suggestions, to no avail.

Throughout all of this, the signal being sent to my TV, from the initial boot on, shows up as 6 vertical, colored stripes, similar to when I TV station is done broadcasting for the day/night. So I'm lost as to what to try next...
