Geforce 2 ultra Image quality MOD

Has anyone performed this MOD on their card?

I have a visiontek geforce2 ultra and I have already removed the first two sets of capacitors but I am afraid to remove the last because I am worried it might be resistors.

The last row of capacitors/resistors are definately not black but they didn't seem to be the EXACT same color as the other two rows. They seemed slightly darker but this could be caused from use. I have had the card for around a year.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

I would do a google search for your GF2 card and see if anyone has done the same type of mod to it.
Hopefully providing pictures and results. If you think it's a resistor, don't clip it until you know for sure cause it will kill the card probably as well as the fact that it's definitely not under warranty now.

When that article came out I remember quite a few posts about cards being harmed or killed by that mod. I believe there are other components on some boards in the same/similar location that aren't the right ones to clip, so be sure before you do it they are the right ones. VERY SURE.

Well I have cut off six fine and it works. I don't have a multimeter to check with.
You're a computer guy with no multimeter? 😛 Good for you that it works fine. Go to harbor freight, they have a really nice cen-tech for $40, on sale for $25. It's actually on par with a Fluke in some areas.

Yeah and how often do you need a multimeter for computer stuff? Not often unless you are going to be soldering stuff yourself such as a playstation mod or something.
