Ok here is the story. Just got done putting together new system. New 4 in 1's all latest drivers and updates. When I first put it together booted fine and everything then tried to run 3DMark 2000, would get partially through it and then would lock and put a bunch of vertical lines on my monitor. I had left out my case fan that blows right on video card so put that back in and then it ran 3DMark fine. Couple days later while in windows did the same thing with the lines and locking up. Desktop resolution was at 1280 x 1024 changed it to 1024 x 768 seemed to fix it. Another couple days go by and then it starts doing it again. Formatted again and now I can't install windows without it locking up even with the video card as the only card in the box. Slapped in my old Geforce 1 card and windows installs fine and everything runs fine. I've tried every driver and BIOS setting imaginable to no avail. I've formatted more times than i'd like to count. Which leads me to the conclusion that probably the video card is bad even though it is new. I suppose stranger things have happened. Does this sound reasonable? Have any of you had problems with new video cards being bad?
