I am trying to decide between getting a geforce 2 mx or a geforce 256 sdr... Which is better, i know the mx is second generation, but it the value card, and being that does it out perform the 256 or not. I'm also interested in instead purchasing a radeon le with hyper z enabled which is proven the best

Geforce 2 mx
geforce 256
radeon le w/ hyper Z enabled

Well I was using a GeForce SDR for a good while, and from what I can remember, my scores were ususally on par or just a bit better than scores I saw from similar systems using an MX. But My SDR was running at 150/210, which is a far cry from what most SDR's are capable of. I have since replaced the SDR with a Radeon LE, which brought about a nice improvement in 32-bit scores, but it's still not as fast as the SDR was in 16-bit. I was a little disappointed by that, as well with the few headaches that popped up from dirver issues. So I'd say if running in 32-bit isn't important to you, go with the SDR or preferably MX. Otherwise, go with the LE, but be prepared for a little aggrevation.

MX and 256 SDR are close to each other. The newer MX uses less power than the old Geforce, and the core might clock faster, but with SDR ram you won't gain much from it. The Radeon DDR would be the better choice, but don't rule out the Kyro II either.

Hehe...I upgraded to an MX from a 256 ;)
It was faster - especially at 210/230 ;)
And not to mention 1/4 of the price :D
Sold the 256 for more than the MX card too!!!
