Hey guys. I ran into a little bit more money to spend on my new rig so seeing as how I only have a voodoo 3 2000 agp and Max Payne is constantly running like a 100 year old grandmother, and also freezing, I would like a better BUDGET video card. At the most I only have about 130 U.S. after tax (forget shipping). I want a fast video that can handle VERY WELL all of today's best games and that will last me for a long time. I can't afford a Geforce 3 or whatever. I just want a better replacement for my voodoo 3 2000 because it doesn't run fast enough. I don't want TV/OUT or TV/IN. I have been looking @ the Geforce 2 MX 400 32mb or 64mb which are about $135/$170 CANADIAN $$. These are good, cheap prices. Would the Geforce 2 MX 400 32mb be a good solution for my budget? I want a fast card for gaming, I want stability, I want good graphics (like fsaa, T&L) and for use with DVD'S. Seeing as how the geforce 2 GTS are 200+ tax ($$Canadian) it is a lil' expensive. So what can you guys tell me about this card or any other cards around the $130 U.S. range?
thx

I picked up my 64 DDR Radeon several months ago and the DVD playback is unchallenged; the 3D is also exquisite. If you want pure frame rate, then pick up a GeForce 3 or wait for a Radeon 8500, but if you want your solution now, I'd say to go with a Radeon or pick a GeForce 2 with good 2D (several of the GeForce 2 cards have crappy 2D) and then pat yourself on the back for a while.:D

seems as if I am gonna grab the RADEON LE cause supposedly you can make it act the exaxt same as a ddr radeon with a few simple tweaks :)

If you don't have money for a GF2 GTS or better then clearly the better budget solution over the MX would be a Kyro 2, or a Radeon LE.

Right now Compgeeks is having a sale on new OEM Visiontek 32mb DDR Geforce 2 GTS AGP cards for $89(not including shipping). Check out the hot deals forum for more info. I don't know if they ship to Canada, but that is a really good price.

You can pick up a Kyro 2 for under 100 bucks right now, and will scald a MX, and beat out the Radeon a good deal of the time.
