Geforce 2 heat question

Running a geforce 2mx on a new duron 1200 system I built for a friend and it had a annoying fan on the heatsink of the geforce 2. It was a fan that someone had installed and I am wondering if I really even need a fan on it. I'm not overclocking anything at all on this system. The heatsink itself is warmer than the heatsink on the duron but not hot enough to burn you. There is 2 80mm panaflo's in the case so there is plenty of ventilation. I'm wondering if it would really be necessary to have the fan on the heatsink of the video card?
