Geforce 2 GTS to be replaced by Geforce 2 Pro

<< Won't this infuriate current GTS owners? >>

I'm one and am not pissed. All I'd need to do is take my memory to 400 and I have a PRO. Big whoop.

Nvidia fans change video cards more frequent than they change their underware.

I think I will settle for my 64MB GTS2 @ 225/395 for a few more months then. I was expecting more from the GF2 Pro 🙁

<< The GF2 MX is all of a sudden making sense in the grand scheme... >>

???
Why? Didn't it make sense before?

As long as there are buyers, nvidia will keep on cranking out faster videocards. The market for $300 plus videocards is relatively small but profitable, so nvidia don't want to lose it to ATI Radeon or 3dfx V5.

I'm a GTS owner and i thing that Pro release is a good thing . Nvidia with GeForce Pro and Ultra will set the performance bar fairly high and they will have to jump way over it when they relase NV20, which I plan to buy, and which should smoke any Pro/Ultra or GTS based card.

The Geforce 2 MX was the best investment out of all of them. Think about it, $300 for a DDR or GTS, or $150, max price for the MX. And the MX overclocks awesome.

Yep, the way I see it everybody wins. MX for value freaks, GTS/Pro for power users, Ultra for the insane with money to spend.

Don't forget about the Quadro, for the Graphic Professional.

Damn am I ever kicking myself in the ass, because I did not buy Nvidia stock.

Oddly enough, 3dfx may be a good stock to get your hands on. If they go under (God forbid), you won't lose much. On the other hand, they've got a bright future (as far as products and the like go).

As a side note - $300 for a DDR isn't quite right. I got mine a month or two ago for about 170 plus shipping. Just fyi.

Hehe, I thought 3dfx had good products coming out such as the voodoo5 and rampage when I bought them at $9 share, now they are worth less than half. I don't know if they can really go lower, but they sure wont be going higher untill they prove themselves with a killer product on the shelf.

So is the "Pro" edition going to be like .15um tech? That was the case with TNT: .25 to .22; and it also was cheaper then the "Ultra".
