At CNN.com right now, there is a Video segment to the top right of the main screen. Its main part has three little vid windows per "page" and three pages. Here are what the videos are titled:

Page 1:
Vid 1 "Don't think I'm that bad" (picture of clinton)
Vid 2 "Clinton on change, Obama"
Vid 3 "N.H. Poll: Clinton, Obama tied"

Page 2:
Vid 1 "Poll: The N.H. horse race" (it covers only democrats)
Vid 2 "Wedding bells for Sarkozy?"
Vid 3 "Dems debate health care"

Page 3:
Vid 1 "Clinton: That's not change"
Vid 2 "Candidates debate foreign policy" (republicans here)
Vid 3 "Obama: In 2 days time"

So of 9 main videos, 7 were democrats, 1 republican, one unrelated to politics.

--

There are few objective, quality news orgs left. Certainly no mainstream ones (Fox, CNN, all total sh*t). The most popular that comes to mind that I actually respect at all is NPR. May sound silly, but I get most of my news links from drudge. I find that he hates everybody enough that I can get a reasonable tapestry of events from his page. There is nothing professional about his site, but it seems to cut through the smelly BS better than most others.

Well Duh, only those on the far left claim that CNN isn't biased. Be prepared to be called a neocon (even though you are far from it) for pointing this out.

Umm.. Maybe it was just because the latest 9 videos on their site happened to be about Democrats? Earlier in the day they had several up about Romney, and one on McCain. In fact, looking right now, there is 1 on Hillary, 1 on Obama, 1 on Huckabee, and 1 on Ron Paul. That seems pretty balanced to me?

Yes, that's exactly my point. I didn't look earlier in the day because it was when I was sleeping :)

Yay C-SPAN!

And Comcast took the dubious step recently of eliminating CSPAN-2 in my area, at least for those that don't buy premium packages. A step backwards.

Mediacon did the same thing. Of course, few people notice. American Idol isn't on there.

As for CNN ... why is anyone surprised? The Clinton News Network is every bit as "biased" as Fox News, according to the nutjobs around here. Excoriating one while praising the other leaves one painted (appropriately) as a hypocrite.

That would mean Ron Paul. Thanks anyways, but I'll pass.

I don't get your point. If the 9 videos before the dem vids were about republicans, where's the bias? I'm taking issue with the 'proof' claim, not that CNN isn't biased.

Correct; and only those on the far right would claim that "only those on the far left claim that CNN isn't biased."

You do see how silly this has become, right?

Ok. I looked again. And right now, of the 9 videos, only 1 is about the presidential race and its titled "bipartisan political forum".. More shocking proof of their biased nature I'm sure.

This is the dumbest "proof" of bias I've ever seen. News outlets aren't biased because they report exclusively on one party or the other, they are biased because of the content of that coverage.

Simply put, the Democratic race is more interesting then the Republican one is right now. Across all news sources you will see more reporting on the Democrats right now.

Well the public seems to disagree. Whenever you look at news sites the most popular/most read articles almost always involve the Democratic race in some way. Not true for the Republicans. Either way though, that was only tangently related to my real point which was quantity of coverage does not mean bias, it's what's in the coverage that matters.

Yeah, it's hard to argue that the Dem race ISN'T more interesting than the Repub. It's been that way since it began.

I watch CNN, Fox & MSNBC but almost exclusively their editorial type shows. Of course there's some bias there. If there wasn't, I wouldn't watch.

What's non-biased campaign coverage? Showing poll numbers or election resultts in a monotone voice?

I don't see the Repub race getting real interesting until Feb 5 (super Tuesday or whatever). IMO, the media is full of BS at this point - like trying to make NH some big deal that, say for example, may knock Romney out of the race. Jeebus, McCain's always been very popular there. And although Romney was the gov next door, he was pro-gay & pro-abortion back then. That the (conservative) people of NH are gonna jump to his side now seems questionable to me.

My point was I took a snapshot. Maybe they had a thousand republican vids in a row before that. I dunno, it was a quantitative proof of CNN bias at a very discreet snapshot in time :) It is proof. It may not be much. It may be a pathetic amount, but by God.

News outlets aren't biased because they report exclusively on one party or the other, they are biased because of the content of that coverage.
Really? That's a surprising thing to say. You think content alone indicates bias? Aren't you aware that ignoring opposition parties is a tried and true method of a state-run media to ensure continued power in faux democracies? The media doesn't have to lie if it doesn't cover a story at all.

Right now...
Man dies trying to save truck
New poll sends shockwaves
6-year-old skates under cars
Bus flips, killing at least 8
Video of Nancy's Babies
Bill Gates' two passions
Wife poisoning trial
CES in Las Vegas
Topless photos of wreck victim

Is this proof of anything?

Skoorb, you sure you didn't just want to 'counter' PCSurgeon's topic?

I meant in this context. Surely you aren't trying to argue that the GOP is an ignored opposition party, or anything even anywhere in the same gigantic ballpark as an ignored opposition party.

So are you saying that CNN isn't biased? The only people that I have seen claim that CNN isn't biased to some degree are on the far left, hence my statement. You could say the same thing about Fox News, only those on the far right would claim that Fox News isn't biased.
