Geez, what on Earth should I write about?

Of all my college applications that have required essays, only two have had no assigned topic or length. Frankly, I don't know how to write with no direction like that. I have no idea what to write about...there's a million things and thus nothing that come to mind, if that makes any sense.

Write about what you already wrote about in one of your 'assigned topic' essays. Why make more work for yourself when work already done will suffice?

The person who made the biggest impact on your life thus far. Or what single event helped shape who you are today?

The above is mostly what I've seen.

Because the other essays were very short. They had a cap of I think 350 words or something. I've been told a page would be a good amount if they don't specify a length. So, I have to write something a bit longer.

Oh well, guess I'll just write about music, since that's why I'm applying for.

You have it easy. The Rice application this year has the big essay about how you (the applicant) will add to campus diversity.

And I am an upper-middle class white suburban male. This is killing me.

At least think of something creative or different ... it's the easiest way to get a college admissions person's eye; they're tired of reading the same crap over and over again.

Write about "How I overcame Homeosexuality" This should get some attention expecially if you are going to Bob Jones University.

Write about your wang, that'll set you apart from the crowd.

Write about "Bowling For Columbine". There's enough material to write a long essay in just a couple of threads here, now.
