Geez, installing a car audio system is hard work.

I was worked on installing my system this whole past weekend and still haven't finished. I ran power cables for the amp and speaker wires to the doors. I only did the back doors so far so I still need to do the fronts. I also took apart my whole dash to install the new navigation headunit. The whole back seat was gutted to run the cables and mount the amp in the trunk. The new speakers have not been installed yet because I'm waiting on some custom baffle boards being made by someone else.

I was so sore and tired this morning I didn't want to get up for work. There wasn't much lifting at all but the constant bending, crouching and getting into awkward positions in the car really burns the body out. 2 more days and I should be finished and I'm liking the results so far.

Yeah, it can be a PITA. I've almost ended up gutting the interior when I've done installs in the past.

sounds like you're at least doing it right though... i somewhat enjoy working on my own system, it's pretty satisfying knowing that you did it all yourself and saved a few hundred bucks in doing so.

btw: how about a list of what all you're putting in there??

I did most everything in a few hours. I pulled out my seats ~15 minutes(4 bolts each), pulled off the side sills ~10 minutes, underdash panels ~15 minutes, ran power ~15 minutes, spliced wires ~10 minutes, and was set to go.

Now if I had to switch out the speakers themselves... God, I don't even want to go there. Pull out all the back interior panels, door panels, probably run new larger gauge wire... omg ew.

gutting interior = the way to go
seats, panels, carpet, everything :D makes it so you can lay down some fatmat too ;)
although any install that takes more than a day, unless your compeating, isnt worth the hassle imho...
