and still two weeks to big intel price drop.
I can see AMD dropping this ah heck to under $100 by the time of the intel 54% drop to make way for the 1.5, at around $200

these are exciting times in the computer world

are there any drops for amd prices soon? was looking at upgrading and dont wanna buy if they are gonna drop anytime soon. plus what is the nforce situation?

unless absolutely necessary, i wouldn't buy any cpu until Aug 28 (tues) when the dust has settled and any new "surprises" have been announced.

Seems most 1 ghz are the same as the 1.4 for only $72. I just overclocked my 1 ghz to 1.5! and it's stable so far!

I heard they are all made the same way.? I don't know for sure though.

I was going to wait until January (small bonus check) to build a DDR rig. But, with 512mb Micron PC2100 less than a C-note and possibly a 1.4 GHz TBird at $100? Sheeeeeeeet.....

But, (BIG but) when are the desktop Pallies coming? That current 1.4 is a power-hungry bastard. I have the PS for it, but between my rig and my monitor there's enough heat to fry an egg....the Athlon4 uses less power...and has the all-important on-die thermistor. Maybe I'll wait after all....I love this place!

carbonyl:

you are correct. with unlocked multipliers as standard or easily accomplished, anyone who buys a 1.4 or a 1.3 or a 1.2 and pays extra for that privilege is plain throwing money away. I simply dont understand why EVEN ONE of these cpu's are sold!! AMD must be laughing like mad every day. Even better, the non-performing 1gig steppings have mostly worked their way out of the system.

I was just mentioning 1.4 pricing as a referencing point.

Especially at places like newegg where they sell loads of product. I went there about five days strait two weeks ago and they were in and out of the 1 ghz before I could order.
