Geeks! In dire need of your help!

I really want to record "The Best of Cosmos" on ThinkTV station right now. But my crappy VCR (Sony VCR+ SLV-495) refuses to copy any channels over 10 or something like that. I want to record channel 14 but it doesn't work since I get the same gray static a blank video tape usually has. So does anyone know what's wrong? By the way, when recording lower channels like channel 5, it works. But doesn't work for double digits channels.

I have a calc test tomorrow so I want to record Cosmos so I can watch it at another time.
