Just letting you guys know my experience so far with Geeks.com.

Ordered some batteries from them a while back, everything went a OK.

Ordered a mobo from them, item states NEW, ship in PLAIN BOX (that should throw up a red flag). Anyways, the mobo came in a box that is obviously too small to hold it and busted the corner. In the corner that was busted, a corner of the mobo protruded and shows sign of physical damage.

Called their customer service to get RMA, get routed around three times, and currently holding for 30+ mins now...

My original intention was to RMA and exchange, during the hold, I've changed my mind to return.

Never again Geeks.com!

Edit1: Finally got someone on the phone after someone else picked up, and was about to give the same run about again. I told them I don't want to have to hold for the 10th time and the person I spoke to "decided" to help amidst his chat to others (which can be loudly heard in background noise) about weather in South Carolina.

I was promised an RMA form, I guess email is taking a really long time to get to me nowaday. Now awaiting RMA Form, will update.

Edit2: Two days later, still no RMA form. Emails sure do take a long time nowaday.

I'm on hold right now still, they're having lunch at 2:40 PM?

seriously though, their base of operations is about 2 miles away from my house and believe me when i tell you they pretty much run a skeleton crew there. good luck.

Just called back, and someone picked up, obviously not that busy since they're talking about weather in South Carolina. I can hear them in the back ground.

Edit: Same tactics, I'm placed into hold land again. Elevator music is so soothing.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from geeks.com, mainly little things like cables, external drive enclosures, etc. Haven't had any problems. I haven't bought any actual hardware like motherboards and what have you, because Newegg is usually a better price.

Compgeeks != geeks.com
are you sure? i thought they were the same thing
My apologies, they are one in the same. I guess compgeeks had some business problems, and changed their name. Business practice is stil the same, crappy.

It could be new and in a plain box. It could be OEM and not retail. The physical damage thing isnt good though, but the plain box could be wrong.

Upon further inspection, the mobo I got cannot possibly be new. There are black marks where the PCI-X slot retainer is, bent pins, stripped out HSF retainer bracket screw housing (one side).

If you have similar experience, please list. I'm feeling avengelical today.

I only had one issue with them. I bought a wifi media player and it arrived defective. It was a hassle trying to get an RMA and they would not include return shipping (the item was VERY heavy) so I just fixed it myself and told them how dissatisfied I was.

I did one RMA with geeks and the whole procedure took like 30 days from initial contact to refund but I got my money back. Email them and give them a few days.

A few days to send you RMA form? Haha, I'm sure I will continue to do business with them.
