So I finally beat Gears of War. I am wondering if anyone else though that the ending was utter crap. Boss wise, I mean, it was just way way too easy and unoriginal. Anyone else think this?

Developers said the ending was rushed to get the game out in time for the holidays, but it also left the door open for the upcoming sequels.

Ah yeah, it did at the end you can tell a sequel was going to happen. The ending just blew compared to the rest of the game though.

That's how it is for most games. Very few manage to actually peak in quality towards the end, mostly due to rushing as jpeyton mentioned.

Haven't played this game but I've figured out that any game that acquires 'Triple-A, most anticipated title ever' status halfway through development automatically has to have a crappy ending which answers no questions and leaves room for a sequel. It isn't quality that decides what game ends up being a major franchise - it is 18+ months of hype, previews, tech demos, gameplay demos etc. that do that. Is the ending satisfying at least or is it like HL2?

Not that I'm suggesting that GoW isn't a good game - I haven't played it, everyone loves it and I am usually easily impressed :p

The game is awesome, the last level is awesome, the boss is the most disappointing encounter I have been across.

I'll put it this way...

Jumping on the boss in Super Mario to kill them required more strategy than the last boss in Gears of War.

I must of been lit to not have been able to beat the last boss after the 10th try. The rest of the game took 2 of us the minimal amount of hours to plow through. Finally got back around to ******* the boss. *'s are the spoiler on how to beat the boss.

it was a decent game but parts of it I really hated. like that lame level where if you stepped into a dark area you died instantly from the swooping bat things. yeah that's a lot of fun.

Heh...I just finished playing Tomb Raider: Legends tonight and the ending was a total WTF. Felt more like the ending to LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring where the ending just jumped in during what felt more like the middle of a long story. Decent boss battle though.

I thought the ending to GoW made sense (for as much plot as there was). Raam was tough until you figure out the pattern. I was expecting more along the lines of when you faced down the big monsters during the game though.

True, but the last act was a cool environment, and as soon as you saw RAAM, it looked impressive but he was easy
