Gears of War makes me wanna buy an XBOX - even though the wii rocks. GD.

I heard Gears of War is coming onto PC - anyone hear this?

I've heard it too, but just from some guy at school, no idea if it's true.

Those commercials are really making me itchy to buy the Xbox360 as well. I doubt we're the only ones.

There was some speculation that GoW might be comign to the PC, but it was wrong.

I'm not sure why, but I love that Gears of War commercial with the song "Mad World." Every time it starts I drop what I'm doing and watch. I'm sure I'll get tired of it before long though, unfortunately.

You'll be dong that a little too often during the game. At certain places there are cutscenes after you hit a checkpoint. Every time you die, you restart at the checkpoint, and get to sit through the cutscene. After like the 10th time seeing the damn cutscene, with no way to skip it the game just gets all the more frustrating.

Am I the only one that doesn't find this game all that great? I mean, it isn't a bad rental, and I'll play it through once, but that's it.

Odd, I managed to skip them just fine. Can't remember how since I haven't played in awhile but I know I skipped them.

You can skip the cutscenes... I just hit every button on the controller and eventually somthing I hit causes it to move on. Whatever it takes...

Now COD 3... Dont think you can skip the cutscenes and its driving me crazy.

I won't play it until it comes to PC. Console is no place for an FPS. GoW is supposed to be amazing, but every review I read thoroughly bashes it and then gives it a 10/10 without ever saying why. I'd like to try it to see if it's actually any good; frankly I am all but certain it will be the next Halo, i.e. the only good game for Xbox so those people think it's amazing, but if you know anything about FPS's it's terrible.

Gears of War is NOT a FPS.

I can tell you that getting used to the controller took me awhile. Aiming is far less precise than with a mouse, and I don't like how so many of your fingers are tied up just on holding the controller. Your right index finger controls firing and reloading, while your middle, ring, and pinky fingers on both hands are just wasted, sitting there holding and stabilizing the controller. Meanwhile, your right thumb controls aiming, but you have to stop that if you want to revive someone, auto-look at special goings-on, kick in a door, or duck behind walls. Want to change weapons? You've got to stop moving and use your left thumb to select a new weapon.
With a computer, and a multi-button mouse, you can do many things at once with both hands. Want to switch weapons while tracking someone? Go right ahead, not a problem.

My favorite controller setup: Logitech dual optical mouse + Thrusmaster Tacticalboard. That made for some darn fine FPS gameplay.

QFT. To add, I've found that sometimes you have to wait about 3-5 seconds into the cutscene for it to work.

Gears of War is the first truly next-gen game out now. there hasn't really been a next-gen game hit the xbox360 or ps3 as well.

It's the best game i've played on Xbox360. it's just so well put together and is so epic. I played the first act yesterday on Insane difficulty w/my friend co-op over xbox live, and let me tell you, it was one of the best gaming experiences i've had.

The multiplayer is not that in depth, but it is fun as hell to play regardless. This game is worth the price of an Xbox360 IMO. I haven't gotten so into a game probably since Halo 2, but Halo 2, I wasonly into multiplayer, not single player. I haven't gotten into a single player game that much since Metroid Prime on GC.

Heh, yeah I'm alright at it, but not great. I'm stuck at the part after defeating the big spider guy, where I'm going up against the upgraded baddies who use the bow.

This game is insane..

I don't like it for some reason. Feels like Doom 3 where it looks awesome but boring gameplay. I just duck, cover, shoot, duck cover shoot with occasional flanking. And after the cut scenes its more duck, cover, shoot. And driving the vehicle sucks, you have to stop and shoot? what??? you should be allowed to pick who drives and who shoots.
And after that it was more duck, cover, shoot.

edit: and it feels like Doom 3 because I just got a shotgun. run around a corner, and blast everything that came around.
