now that performance is fixed

wonder how the developers managed to release the game with such horrible AMD performance

We'll probably never get an answer to that but it's good to see they responded in kind to the problems instead of ignoring it.

DX12. Same reason why DX12 is crashing left and right on nVidia hardware in Hitman.

At lower settings 4K it's still pushing a butt ton of pixels, so the ROPs from the Ti are winning out thanks to its incredible pixel fillrate. As you increase settings you now depend more on the texture fillrate and memory bandwidth, where Fury X has a higher theoretical level?

So much better! They should have done this for release though, game wouldn't have gotten the massive amount of negative press.

Now just need to fix up Tomb Raider DX12 and all of the DX12 games will show good improvements.

Cos they never tested it on AMD hardware, else they would have noticed the massive visual issues with HBAO+...

Jason @ Forbes said AMD didn't have access to the game at all, while NVIDIA did and was able to optimize and fix most issues for the release (which AMD were not informed about).

Why? They could have spent the extra time to have a smooth launch, but no. Because Hitman DX12 was releasing, as was the Tomb Raider DX12 patch, GOW U wanted to be the first major title with DX12 is my only guess. Rushed out before its ready to claim that title.

You are naive if you really think what you wrote in 3rd paragraph is true, just after what is in your 2nd paragraph.

Wont be long before we have people in here telling us that this is a "un-true dx12 title", now that the performance have been updated for both vendors..

How about we let actual DX12 games talk instead of PR machines?

Guessing the tune have changed right about now

It still isn't even with the fixes. When you think of next-gen games, you don't think about taking 2006 source code on UE3 and slapping DX12 onto it. The game still looks visually dated. There's no large open worlds or even crowd density to hide the fact it's ugly.

Quantum Break, built ground up for DX12 is more fitting for the shooter genre, and Ashes & Warhammer for the RTS genre. Either way, hopefully they don't launch QB in a broken state for the Windows Store.

I agree, fix or no fix. GoW UE is not a good representation of DX12.

It may have been fixed, but it still sucks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS2DLNRaBbw

Simply put, the enforced V-sync makes the frametime graph extremely spiky across all hardware, and even an OCed Titan X + OCed 6700K can't maintain a solid 60 at 1080p.

Doesn't matter. This is a proper DX12 title according to the Nvidia fanboys.

Enjoy your forced Vsync and OCed Titan X struggling to do 1080p/60fps.

That's the way it's meant to be played when Nvidia is involved.

2016 and we have a "new" game with a new api... with a 60fps cap.........

it's like 2 xbones or ps4's in one!

i guess if this is some kinda new thing buying gpus won't even matter as long as you can make the cap.

Guys how many from the ground up direct x 12 games are released as of now.
I'm not talking direct x 11 ports. I remember the direct x 10/11 ports also kinda sucking too.

Just wondering. I don't follow that stuff too closely.

I didn't like Gears of War on my 360, so this game don't really interest me.

So does the game count now as a DX12 title?

Still not impressed with their Multiplayer side. Xbox Live on PC is basically useless.

I regret rebuying it (haha, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me).

What was the point of even having this game in DX12? Even with the latest patch, there are still frame rate drops within the game (they won't show THAT in a benchmark). It's such a half-assed port. You can't even disable the V-Sync lock at 60 FPS. And this game was originally released 10 years ago. Bang up job you did with this game, Microsoft.

It should've been a DX11 title from the get-go. If you're going to do DX12, then put some real effort into it like Ashes of the Singularity.
