the thing is, they always change EVERYTHING that made the game good in the first place.

The only ones id really go see are Gears of War and Halo.

and id much rather they were stories built on computer animation, the conversion to a real movie kills the atmosphere for me.

I was always wondering why they didn't make the First WarCraft movie instead of going to WoW.

The trade magazine claims Epic has crafted "an extensive backstory in hopes of utilizing it for a film as well as potential novels," despite criticism of the guarded storyline of the first game.

Novels? Gears of War novels? Sounds even more dubious than a movie.

The first Halo novel (I haven't read the others) was pretty good. Added a lot more depth when playing the game.

In that sense, is it a kind of a stragety guide?

I do have the Simcity4 Strategy Guide, which for such a complex game, should have been included in the retail package. 463 pages of very useful information.

No. It was an actual story about how Master Chief came to be and detailed the events leading up to what happened in the first Halo game.

I thought DOOM would be a movie-license that would be impossible to screw up. The game itself barely had any story - open portal to hell, all hell breaks loose, one hell of a crazy dude with a shotgun/chainsaw unleashes hell demons. All it needed was some nice, over-the-top firefights with mad camera skills. But no, they changed the whole plot and you couldn't see sh!t in the movie because it was even darker than Doom 3.

After that...no. I'm never buying a ticket to a video-game inspired movie. Well, except the Max Payne movie (I'm a Max Payne fanboy). :p

Probably b/c blizzard makes over $10M/month profit, whereas a movie (although cool) would not make nearly as much money.

However, I would love to see a WC or SC movie. that'd be sweet (full CGI of course)

The game was terrible! The dialogue at the end absolutely kills it.

Oh man, the MGS movie.. could be interesting depending on how well it does (or how hard it tanks).
