GE60 notebook Frontpage review

Don't know about the warranty, but I ended up doing it anyway on my new GE60 Apache Pro. It came with 1x8gb and I threw in another stick for 2x8. Just ordered an m500 for one of the msata slots this morning.

Btw, I really like the notebook so far. Beautiful IPS screen. Runs games very nicely. Been rocking Far Cry 3 in the recliner this week.

Cons = Fingerprints on brushed aluminum finish and it does get a little warm when playing a game.

Thx for the reply. What really gets to me is the std. configuration of single channel (or semi) memory configurations. Just seems very very odd to me. Why would anyone do that? The second I read something like that I stop taking the vendor seriously.

Intel CPUs with discrete GPUs don't need dual-channel. The extra bandwidth helps more with IGP graphics.

I'd consider 1 x 8 as a feature since you can add more RAM without needing to throw any away.

- Aaaarh .... what ? I guess thats why the E platform is quad channel and about to go DDR4? Cause it doesnt really need the bandwidth?
Also I am not quite sure how it would work out by mixing up memory types either, at the current pricelevel i'd problary just get 2x8 at well above the 1600mhz spec -that im sure it is fitted with from the fab and throw it away.

MSI may void warranties in some countries, but most consumers are protected if adding RAM or replacing a hard drive and something unrelated fails. Now they might take exception if a CPU magically has been damaged.
