Welp that's one limited resource, now to see how the GP104 is doing in yields.

Hopefully the claims around here of no non-Founder's Editions for months are just hot air.

I need a new card!

Well, limited gddr5x and bad yields means less 1080's and more 1070's.

So the question is which one do you want?

Here's a crazy thought ~ GDDR5x for vega10, or 11 or whatever's launching in Oct, & this news explains why the release was preponed.

You cant just change memory subsystems like that. If Vega is released end of oct, you can bet the design was finished over 12 months before that and A0 silicon would have been had since february. This means that for AMD to have a gddr5x phy built in the silicon "just in case", they would have done so with information of gddr5x production from months ago, not now.

Also, going Gddr5x is counterintuitive for AMD. Brute bandwidth is only comparable on paper, ask yourself how you handle 512b data widths on a 256b gddr5/x phy compared to a 1024 hbm/4096 hbm2 one? Hawaii's 512b phy makes a lot more sense that what raw bandwith numbers would indicate (and only places a burden in power consumption)
