GDDR 3 vs DDR 3 memory

There is 2 video cards one with 512MB DDR3 and other with 256 GDDR3 memory, other than this they are same, whats the difference?

Also what about size, if i not intended to play very new games that were out until 2005 do i need more than 256MB memory (not related to gddr, ddr question)?

It was just a typo. GDDR refers to DDR memory that is used by Graphics cards.

If you're not playing games newer than 2005, you probably won't need 512mb.

They didn't have GDDR2 for video cards just like they dont have DDR3 (only GDDR3) for video cards I believe...

Low-end graphics cards sometimes use regular desktop RAM such as DDR2 or DDR3. In this case it is probably a typo as DDR3 wasn't available when the 7 series was out IIRC.

But except clocks, is there some other figure that is important like 4-4-4-12 or smth?

Btw there are some (lower end cards) that are labeled gDDR instead of GDDR is there any difference?
