Well, pedestrians do have the right of way. I hate when I'm walking around on the sidewalks and stupid people in SUV's almost run over me while on their cellphones.
Nope, not here.

And I can't believe you threw that stereotype on the table... it's not 2002 anymore.

It's not 2002.. lol. So you think that the country has completely changed in only 4 years?
Get with the times, bashing SUVs and cellphones is no longer in. Neither is bashing soccermoms in minivans trying to control their 2 kids in the backseat. What else ya got ?

BTW, you're wrong about the pedestrians too.

So, what you're basically saying is that my point is invalidated only because you "said so".

Better not do that to me if I'm in a crosswalk (not saying that was necessarily the case here). Someone did that to me and my girlfriend once when we were crossing in a crosswalk (he had a stop sign). He started revving his engine and honking his horn (some dumb kid). So I just stood in front of his car and stared at him for a good 15 seconds. Kid didn't know what to do.

When I was younger, I was crossing in a crosswalk with my mom. Some dumb woman wanted to make a right on red, which of course she's allowed to do but not when there are people in front of her car. She started revving and honking, so my mom took the 32oz big gulp of diet coke she was holding and threw it across her windshield. (She has a bit of a temper, but I thought it was justified here ;))

edit-This thread kinda got me thinking. This isn't the first rant I've seen directed at pedestrians, cyclists, etc from drivers; not just on this forum, but in other mediums too. I've been realizing more and more how obsessed Americans (and other developed nations) have become with our cars. EVERYONE has a car-suburban cities are so sprawling (and the public transportation systsem is so bad) you couldn't get anywhere in any reasonable amount of time without one. Everybody's in such a hurry-we don't even get out of our cars to eat anymore, let alone carpool (meaning we'd have to go out of our way to pick others up). No one walks anywhere, and most people don't own a functioning bike. Walking, one of our most basic human functions, has somehow become viewed as a form of "exercise" now, instead of just a way to go somewhere. Cyclists are always harrassed, with people swerving toward them to try and make them fall (see it happen all the time, experienced it, too). Pedestrians get hassled as well-people intentionally swerving towards the sidewalk to splash them in the rain, or revving their engines while someone's in the crosswalk. And then, their fat asses slide out of their car, plop down in front of the computer and write rants like some people have done in this thread, stating "how dare people who are walking get in the way of my vehicle that carried me at 60 mph to my destination, forcing me to wait for a few more seconds."

That was an incredibly meandering paragraph, I'm sorry if it made no sense. I absolutely agree that everyone (pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers) all need to be aware of one another and be courteous. But I guess my point is that many drivers, who have the huge advantage at getting where they are going in a short amount of time, are always the first to complain about someone (some damn pedestrian) "delaying" them.

I've seen a guy in a wheel chair going the opposite direction in the middle of a 2 lane highway at 11:30 at night, talk about the dumbest person I've ever seen ever. It also didn't help that he was black and was wearing all black too, I barely missed hitting him.

You don't see it ? Is it only SUVers who drive with cellphones ? Or are in fact the most numerous (thus deserving of such a stereotype) because you've "seen it the most" ? Really, this crap gets old. That's what I'm saying. I'd like an actual count of how many SUV drivers with cellphones have almost run you over while you are on the sidewalk. Think of it honestly and give me a number. It's just cool to say, isn't it ?

How about we all follow the rules and nobody gets pissed at someone else for doing something wrong... repeatedly ? Just because drivers have an advantage in size and speed, we have to forgive others when they fvck us with their sh!tty attitudes of "me first - or you commit assault" ? I play nice when you play nice. I will not drive over people in the crosswalk. I will sometimes let you go if you are courteous and allow me to make the decision first.

College campuses are the worst when it comes to oblivious pedestrians. I understand that a pedestrian has the right of way in a crosswalk, and I always stop if I see someone about to enter...but if for nothing else than the preservation of your own life, please at least attempt to look both ways before just strolling into the intersection. The only people paying less attention than the walkers are the drivers, so there's a good chance one of them isn't going to see you.

Here's a suggestion if you are always late because of the 10 seconds you lost because of a pedestrian, wake up sooner and leave sooner. It isn't the pedestrians fault you missed your train, it is yours. Why do people nowadays have such a "it is everyone else fault, never mine" mentallity. I mean, I agree that it is irksome that some people don't care about other peoples problems, but that is it.

Wait for the 3 seconds for the driver to pass.

Yeah, that's what I said. You even quoted it. ;) The point of my long post above was just how many drivers are dicks to pedestrians.
