Every morning I drop my wife off at the train station... gauranteed there's at least 1 pedestrian who walks in the middle of the roadway there who thinks they have the right of way. This morning I got lucky and 3 skaterbois strutted across in front of me even though I was following the car ahead pretty closely.

Nevermind the stream of cars "rushing" through there just the same... they'll just walk across calmly, sometimes without even looking, as if it's their right... stopping the flow of traffic and those making a left turn in front of oncoming vehicles.

It's even worse when it's time to get off work... a stream of people take the shortest route from the escalators to the parking lots... yes - they are drivers themselves, a few minutes after they piss off fellow drivers. Selfish fvcks.

If they are crossing a turning, in the UK if the pedestrian has started crossing before you turn in, they have the right of way.

It's only 5 seconds of your life, relax or you'll die of chin cancer brought on by stress.

Sorry, trying to make the train on time takes precedence. The traffic signals that turn red before I get there I'm pretty calm about. But these fvcks I can't stand.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not  You aren't the only one trying to make the train...

crosswalks = not selfish, no laws broken, nobody justifiably pissed.

Besides, if I'm not in a hurry, I'll stop my 3500lb vehicle for you to break the law - and I have many times - even for other vehicles who haven't off-loaded on the other side... but if I don't look like I'm going to stop, it's not your right to make me by having me almost hit you.

Are they not trying to get to the train too?

Need more info...sounds like you're talking about a parking lot? If so, I believe peds always have the right of way (that's why parking lots, unless otherwise marked, have a speed limit of 5 mph).

edit-and about the left turn, when else are they gonna cross? When traffic's going the other way (directly at them?)

^ no, it's a roadway that eventually leads into a parking lot after a couple turns though. It's the only road cars can use to get in / through.

They're not blocking the cars directly at the turn... it's the pedestrians further down the road that cause all the cars to stop suddenly that sometimes hangs cars out in the middle of the intersection... chain reaction. Cars are supposed to go straight through and pull over to offload.

Basically all you get are random pedestrians fvcking things up because each of them are thinking, just let me go real quick... and so is the next guy behind them. You can imagine how well that works when you have a steady stream of these VIPs.

Chin cancer? I've never heard anyone say chin cancer, but I've been wondering if this spot on my chin is cancerous... Crazy.

Well, pedestrians do have the right of way. I hate when I'm walking around on the sidewalks and stupid people in SUV's almost run over me while on their cellphones.

I hear ya OP. I'm really tired of pedestrians thinking that they own everything, and who won't move over to let you go around down a lane in a parking lot. GTFOOTW, it's not that hard to show a little fvcking common curtosey to the guy driving a 3500lb truck who just wants to get to a parking space.

Nope, not here.

And I can't believe you threw that stereotype on the table... it's not 2002 anymore.

Whenever I'm walking anywhere I get to the corner of a street with an endless stream of cars and not a single one will let me pass. To me I think it's a "whoever gets there first has the right of way" situation, but most people only care about themselves and exhibit no courtesy whatsoever, whether they are in cars or on foot.

I hate the bastards that walk down the middle of the aisles in parking lots... taking their time even though you are waiting right behind them to move on.

Even when I have the walk sign, I look both ways and if I see a car that needs to turn I walk/run to get across to let the car turn earlier. Usually it doesn't help though because the people behind me just walk. But who cares anyways. It is like 10 seconds off your travel time. Big deal. Learn to have some patience.

Don't you hate it when DRIVERS, and some other people, think they own the road, and that their priorities are so much more important than everyone else?

Here's a suggestion if you are always late because of the 10 seconds you lost because of a pedestrian, wake up sooner and leave sooner. It isn't the pedestrians fault you missed your train, it is yours. Why do people nowadays have such a "it is everyone else fault, never mine" mentallity. I mean, I agree that it is irksome that some people don't care about other peoples problems, but that is it.

Get with the times, bashing SUVs and cellphones is no longer in. Neither is bashing soccermoms in minivans trying to control their 2 kids in the backseat. What else ya got ?

BTW, you're wrong about the pedestrians too.

You want to know the difference? Sure I break the law with speeding... I break the law with not crossing at crosswalks all the time... but is it really right for me to jump in front of a car and say fvck you I'm walking now... ? I would walk if they stop and let me walk - I'd even wave a thank you. As a driver, I wouldn't be pissed at people who actually waited to see if I would let them go. AGAIN, PEDs don't have the right of way here.

When it happened again this morning, I actually said to my wife... "do they have the right of way or something?" I wasn't sure... but now I am. They don't.
