My neighbor has college-age kids and one of his kid's friends drives a Chevy Trailblazer with some ridiculously loud exhaust (obviously aftermarket) and some HID blues (also annoying but at least I don't see his in my face). I've thought about posting this many times because every time, without a doubt, you know he's here. It sits idle in the driveway for minutes at a time before he leaves. Sometimes he leaves at 6am (wonder how I know) and sometimes at 1130pm. He's just here all the time and multiple times throughout the day.

W T F is wrong with a guy that doesn't realize it's the most g'damn annoying thing to everyone that's not him? Right now I'm in my office and I'm hearing a low hum as it sits idle in the driveway. Whoops... I spoke too fast, he finally started leaving... and I can still hear him as he makes the 2nd turn away from the neighborhood, no joke.

Should be hear ;)

At least he doesn't have a motorcycle... those are usually even louder.

edit: you fixed it too quickly :)

The kid will move out eventually and annoy the crap out of some one else. Probably not much you can do, sorry.

Yup there's 2 motorcycles in the immediate area too... summertime sucks but at least they only rev them up on weekends. Before this Trailblazer started showing up, I was getting pretty infuriated at that (WTF leave already). But now it's better than this guy at all hours of the day multiple times a day.

isn't it sad that it has to come to government intervention?

factory harley exhaust actually isn't that bad sounding but 7/10 times some dillweed switches out the pipes for something way louder and more harsh sounding because "it's cool"/"it makes me feel like a man"/"the chicks dig it"/"i'm on a small vehicle so i need to be heard by everyone for my own safety"

speaking of illegal, the tints he has on that thing is ridiculous too. Even if it were all illegal, I'm sure he won't be cited for any of it unless he's stopped for a regular traffic violation though.

Negative. Just force it into the tail pipe with a broom handle. It will forum to fit inside the exhaust pipe. Push it in where it can't be seen, then pick up the pieces that didn't fit.

All you old fogies crack me up. Especially when its always the older people around here who have the loudest exhaust. Harley, diesel powerstroke/cummins or some simple V-8 pickup of some kind.

Shows how retarded Denver has become. Oh yea lets target just motorcycles instead of vehicles in general. The numerous powerstroke/cummins diesels around my house are just as loud if not louder then any harleys, plus you only have to hear the harleys a few months of the year.

The only reason it makes even a bit of sense is because every harley rider has to get on his bike start it up and then trottle tune it for 5 minutes, RAHHHWW, RAHHHAAAAWWWWWW before they take off. I can understand that to be a bit annoying, but any V8 is not too bad unless he is revving it. Its my opinion that your simply overly sensitive. Maybe you should think about replacing your windows or something

It's no different than apes in the jungle trying to make themselves look all badass by chest-beating, or making noise with branches and leaves. Some of the less-evolved of this species use technology to the same ends.

"OGH! ME MAKE LOUD CAR THING! ME BIG BAD MAN-BEAST NOW! UURRGH!!!"
Yeah, mhmm, believe me, we all are in total awe of just how amazingly fantastic you and your tiny brain are being right now. We are also contemplating doing something primal, such as forcibly ending your existence.

I'm on a university campus, so I get to deal with all sorts of dickweeds with those loud exhaust systems, revving the engines as they peel out of the parking lot. Morons.

Yea it has nothing to do with the fact that the person driving the car enjoys the throaty sound, he/she only cares what others think. Or that it improves power AND fuel economy. No of course not.

I neither improves power nor fuel economy (has been proven), and if they want to enjoy the "throaty" sound they can go to a drag strip. I don't need to be hearing that shit at 9:00pm when my kids are in bed.

A lot of newer cars need engine management to make use of the added HP/TQ and fuel economy that a freer flowing exhaust provides, Yes - but not all of them.

And frankly your comment that its "proven" simply proves your complete lack of understanding of cars, or a lot of the people who enjoy working on/upgrading them.

Live in a better house...fuck the government telling people what they can and can't do so much.

My neighbor has three harley's...he leaves at the crack of dawn sometimes. I am not going to fault him for that.

People are fucking ridiculous whiny babies.

When my wife and I lived in Capitol Hill some bikes were so bad that you could hear them coming from (it seemed) miles, and so often at the dead of night. No option for all those renters to replace the windows in those 100+ year old houses really. And it wouldn't matter when your window is less than 10 feet from the street. That said, I never whined about it (fire trucks..."Top Run" specifically, would always go blaring past our place on 13th near Cheeseman all the time too), but I can understand how it could have been pushed to pass.

I don't understand why article says you can only have stock exhaust though. Who cares so long as it falls within the decibel limits? But they didn't link to the actual law so I dunno. Even if motorcycles make up the majority of the problem, it is stupid to target them specifically in the law itself.

Harleys are annoying.....I just worked on a Ford powerstroke this week that had the trucker stacks in the bed and it was the most obnoxious gdamn thing I ever have driven....

I would be deaf the first week I if I had to drive that thing to work everyday......

And I got pulled over once for a leaking exhaust on a car and the cop gave me a warning.... lol
