I have an Hitachi GD 5000 DVD drive, but I do not know how to enable the headphone jack at the lower left corner of the faceplate of the drive. I have my speaker system jacked in through the audio port on the SB.

It'd be nice to play games sometimes without the sonic shockwave knocking (!) my girlfriend through a wall.

I am sure the remedy is simple, but then again...so am I.
 
yep, the headphone jack on all cd/dvd drives are enabled only when you're playing an audio cd in the drive.

Very well then, I'll just jump over to the hot deals forum and scope out a cheap buy in for a new pair of earplugs for her.
