GBE or Standard NIC

I am running an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe M/B. Right now we have standard RJ-45 cable running around inside the walls of our house. However as you may know the Asus has dual LAN's with one being a marvell gigabit LAN. Currently as we have no gigabit support anywhere but my room and we donthave the wires to support it which should i plug the cable into.

Would the Nvidia ehternet have lower CPU utilization and a little faster speeds, or should i just leave it in the GBE slot?

what kind of chupset is the 100Mbps port using?

Otherwise they will probably make no difference at all unless you are doing a LOT of transfers to make it noticable. Even then, incompatibilities would be all I would ever expect to differentiate them unless one of them is/is not on the PCI bus.

EDIT: I missed the nvidia part.

Should be fine to use either.

Its running off of the Nvidia MCP-T southbridge. If you mean dedicated, as in something like intels CSA no neither are like that.

Would it be better to run on the 10/100 or the GBE?

Try both and see, but I believe the Marvell (loosely based on the SysKonnekt core) will perform better. Should also work better if your cabling is marginal.

The NForce ethernet MAC is okay, not great.
