GBA<-->GC link cable: awful engineering--updated w/pics!

I got the link cable to play Wind Walker with my GBA... the frickin thing depresses the R and L buttons when it's attached. Who engineered this piece of junk?? The only way to use the shoulder buttons is to unplug the cable connector slightly.

Eh, whaddya expect? The thing is tiny. They'll probably come out with another cable for the SP. Sucks to have to pay for another cable though.

It doesn't do that on my GBA. Do you have an SP?

I didn't think it would either. I think he may be talking about the GBA<--->GC cable. Those do look like they would do something like that.

Nate
That is what he's talking about. I have one & a regular GBA and it doesn't depress the L/R buttons.

Did you buy a third party cable? I just bought the Nintendo brand and have the SP, and it isn't in the way of the L and R buttons 😕

BTW, using Tingle for "Preemptive strikes" against enemies is fun! 😀

One of my genius roommates told me I could play my GBA games on the GC by using this cable. That way, I won't have to stare at that little screen. Shessh next time I'll listen to myself! :|

PipBoy, yeah that is the same cable I have, but mine doesn't interfere with the L and R buttons... 😕

Are you able to take a picture of it?

Well, he was almost right. They're coming out with what basically amounts to a new Super Gameboy this summer some time. Plugs into the bottom of the GC.

Nate

Im pretty sure the Nintendo cable works fine. If you have a third party cable it might interfere with the buttons.

EDIT: yeah, according to the pic it looks like that might be an Interact cable. Get a Nintendo one and it should be all good.

Is it possible to cut off the plastic corners? Can't say real well from the pics, but it doesn't look like there's anything in there.

Yes I think I'll grind the corners off at work Monday, there's nothing in there. It is an Interact cable but it's the same as what's sold on Nintendo's site.

Can someone provide a link to the correct cable?

the topic and post is misleading

he has an interact gba->gc link cable, not an official authentic nintendo one

using the nintendo one you could clearly see that the L-R buttons are accessible

you should change the thread to "GBA<-->GC InterAct Link Cable: Awful Engineering -- Updated w/ Pics!"

Hell, even when he posted a link to what he said he had, he linked to the official one and not the interact one. I think Pipboy owes Nintendo a public apology. 🙂
