Just put in a new mobo/cpu heatsink

come to find out that the CPU sits at the very top of the mobo and the tuniq tower is overlapping a good 1/2 inch past the top of the mobo and is hitting the bottom side panel - wont fit no matter what i do, the cooler is extending too far.

any aftermarket coolers out there that maybe i wont have this problem with?

i really wanted to use that cooler too, sucks i have to RMA it :(

Rotating it would make it fit, but it will provide less than optimal temps as the fan will now be blowing either up into his video cards, or down into a solid alum. compartment seperator. I know, I had this exact setup except for the MB and had this same issue.

OP, feel confident in the fact that RMAing and trying something else is the right choice here. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions on a replacement though, I went w/c to solve my issue.

Xigmatek HDT-S964 should fit and perform well, not up to par with the best of the best but, for the price it's hard to beat. If you want top notch that should fit the Thermalright Ultima 90 would be the best performing 92mm heatsink I know of, it will also fit a 120mm fan though, I doubt you would be able to utilize that feature.

i thought about it but like the OP said, it would be blowing right into the case wall or onto the video card :(

one problem: the backplate that sticks to the back of the mobo is stuck like superglue and i'm having a really hard time getting it off, i'm afraid i'll literally break the board :(

i might try a hyper 212 when i stop by frys and see if i can have them hold some cpu coolers on a display board to see how much room i have.

ugh what a pain, when it rains it pours :(

hmmm i might try pointing the case fan IN and mounting the TT120 on its side blowing UP and see what that does.....
