There are some pros and cons:

Gazelle:

Pros:
Price ($299)
Size - manuevability

Cons:
Motion seems unnatural
Thumb pulse monitor doesn't seem to work well

Nordic Track

Pros:
Motion is comfortable

Cons
Size
Cost ($599)

Both appear to be effective in getting the heart rate up. I'm a little concerned that the Gazelle may hurt my hips due to the motion.

Any sage advice?

For a little more than the price of the Gazelle you coiuld join a Gym for a year that would have Cardio Machines much better than either the Gazelle or the Nordic Track

Well, if you're like me and you can't find time to goto the gym, a machine at home would be best. Go with an elliptical. A gazelle's motion puts a lot of stress on the ankle, and the motion is unnatural.

True. I can join the fitness center at work for $100/yr.

The advantage of buying one of these items is that I can roll out of bed, do my cardio, shower, and be off to work.

Until I resolve my achilles tendon problem, running is out so I need to find an alternative.

I decided to go with the Gazelle Power Plus. It has pistons for added resistance so you can get a pretty good workout.

I thought that this was a better option that a cheap elliptical machine.

I have an achilles tendon problem also. So far, using the Gazelle has been a joy.

All of the gyms where I live cost upwards of $50/month and require additional driving out of my way.
